GeegPay (operating under Raenest) is a Nigerian fintech that provides virtual USD, GBP, and EUR accounts for African freelancers and remote workers. Founded in 2022, it entered the same space as Grey with a strong focus on the Nigerian market and a mobile-first product experience. The core offering is a virtual US bank account (routing number + account number) that can receive ACH payments, plus GBP and EUR accounts for European clients. Once funds are received, users can convert to local currency and withdraw to their bank account, or hold the foreign currency balance for later use. The fee structure involves a few components worth understanding. ACH deposits: the first deposit each month is free, subsequent deposits in the same month cost $1 flat. SWIFT deposits (for USD arriving via wire): $16 flat fee. This SWIFT fee is a significant cost for smaller invoices — a $200 invoice arriving via wire would incur an 8% effective fee just on receipt. For freelancers whose clients send via ACH or payment platforms, this is less of an issue, but it is worth clarifying the payment method before relying on GeegPay for a corridor. Currency conversion is priced with a 1–2% embedded margin (the spread between the mid-market rate and the rate offered). Local withdrawal to a Nigerian bank account is free. Other country withdrawals range up to $2.00 flat. KYC uses a tiered system: basic identity verification unlocks daily limits of $2,000, and full verification with proof of address and additional documentation raises that to $150,000/day. This tiering is practical for freelancers whose income grows over time. GeegPay is best suited for Nigerian freelancers with USD income who want a lightweight, mobile-native account without the annual fees associated with Payoneer. It is a newer and smaller platform than Payoneer or Wise, which means its long-term reliability is harder to assess — but for freelancers who want a backup receiving account or a Nigeria-focused option, it fills the need.
