For freelancers, the flow is straightforward: your client onboards you via Remote, you complete a KYC process, and you receive a contract generated by Remote's compliance engine. Payments land in your local bank account on a monthly cycle (or as negotiated) with 0–3% FX markup on local currency conversion. The platform fee for independent contractors is $29/month, charged to the employer — lower than Deel's $49/month for contractors, which some clients find meaningful at scale. Remote covers 70+ countries for contractor payments, which is narrower than Deel's 150+ but reflects Remote's emphasis on maintaining in-house legal entities in each market. In practice, if your country is on their list, the compliance handling tends to be more thorough. The contractor experience is clean: a simple dashboard for submitting invoices each month, viewing payment history, and downloading tax documents. Remote does not offer cryptocurrency withdrawals, Wise forwarding, or prepaid card options — payouts go to local bank accounts. The main limitation for freelancers is that Remote is designed for ongoing employment and contractor relationships, not one-time project work.
